Denzil Tyrone Coppin, Jr.

July 6, 1977 - May 7, 2019

Denzil Tyrone Coppin, Jr, 41, went Home to his Heavenly Father on May 7, 2019. Denzil was born to Denzil Tyrone Coppin, Sr. and Monica Patricia (Graham) Coppin on July 6, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York. Denzil moved to Staten Island, New York in October 1977 with his parents, where he lived until he moved to Arlington, TX in January 2015. Denzil played little league baseball for Snug Harbor leagues (Staten Island, New York), played catcher for Curtis High School (Staten Island, New York), where he graduated from. He attended the College of Staten Island and Kingsborough Community College. He was employed at Encompass Health for three and a half years as a Unit Secretary and Medical Technician, and, most prior, a Mental Health Technician in the Mobile Crisis Unit for Bayley Seton Hospital for six years. Denzil earned the title of Emergency Medical Technician in 2006 and was a certified Phlebotomist. He volunteered his time as an EMT as well as a Candy Striper at St. Vincent Medical Center and a mentor for Teens on a Mission. Denzil enjoyed family gatherings, especially during the holidays, any aspect of traveling, reading, sports, music (Beres Hammond-“Double Trouble” was his favorite), swimming and comedy. Denzil loved giving of his time as a volunteer and serving others, but, most of all, loved his Heavenly Father and his family. Denzil is preceded in death by his Grandfathers, Torrance Coppin and Rev. Eric Drayton, Grandmother Gloria Bradshaw, Great Aunts Auriel Hewlett, Ivy Drayton, Eureka Drayton, Evelyn Jordan and Erlin Callender, Great Uncles Rudolph Bradshaw, James Fields and Uncle, Mark Drayton. Denzil is survived by his parents, Denzil Coppin, Sr. and Monica Coppin, siblings Bevon Graham, Candice and Jordan Coppin, Grandmother Corine Graham, Step Grandmother Norma Coppin, Great Uncle James Drayton, Uncles Richard and Roger Coppin, Great Aunts Beautelle Bradshaw, Wilma Drayton and Clarene Russel, Aunts Ianthe, Faye and Cindy Bradshaw, Cousin Dr. Rev Oscar Miller, nephew Savon Graham, Cousin to the Coppin, Bradshaw, Graham, Drayton, Hewlett, Fields, Layne, Callender, Howard, Jordan, Russel, Greenidge and Best families and friends of the Stradford, Magnuski and Agro families and Odille Komproe. Denzil will be remembered by pausing and then saying, “Who raised you? Bruh, you gotta relax,” and most importantly, his favorite saying when the New York Mets would win “Put it in the books.” A gentle, serving heart will continue to be a legacy that will always be left to those who knew and loved him.
