Lee Roy "Buck" Buchanan

July 23, 1935 - March 1, 2021

What we witnessed in the death of Lee Roy "Buck” Buchanan on March 1, 2021 was a plan. His plan and God's plan. This most loving, gentle, caring, and giving man of God was at peace. He passed away peacefully at home, ten minutes after all his children were able to gather and pray with him, surrounded by his bride of 61 years and all his kids. Buck showed his sons how to be gentle men and taught his daughters what love should look like and never to settle for less. Each grandchild was his favorite and they knew it. He adored his wife and taught all who knew him what unconditional love looked like. In his presence you knew you were loved and that you mattered. He is a veteran of the US Navy where he proudly worked as an aviation fluids mechanic. He was employed as a shipping foreman for much of his career. He enjoyed reading scripture and fishing (while sharing scripture). Born July 23, 1935 in Marble Falls, Texas, in a tent on Backbone Creek. Buck was the oldest son of Levi and Josephine Buchanan. He is survived by his sister Evelyn and husband Douglas Courchene and predeceased in death by his brother Terrell Ray and wife Nita Buchanan. He is also survived by his beloved wife Patricia, his children Janet and spouse Adrian Kavanaugh of Fairfield, PA; David and spouse Robin Buchanan of Lafayette, LA; Aaron and spouse Gina Buchanan of Charlotte, NC; and Laura and spouse Kyle Overton of Arlington, TX. His grandchildren Bailey Deranger and Sydnee Belle Buchanan; Maxwell, Spencer, Jacob, and Savannah Buchanan; and Anna, Lee, and Curtis Overton and great grandchildren Rylee and Brooks Deranger. Finally by his brother and sister-in-law Steve and Lisa Beck; many nieces, and a nephew; and those for whom he was a role model and father figure – you know how much he loved you. Funeral services will be celebrated March 9, 2021 at 11am and are private at the wishes of the family. Services will be live-streamed at blessingfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Next Step Women's Center, Burleson, TX 76028 (www.nextstepwc.com).
