Steven Allan Grant

In Loving Memory of a Devoted Husband, Brother, Uncle, Distinguished Educator, and Cherished Friend.

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to Steven Allan Grant, resident of Burleson, Texas, who passed away on the morning of February 15, 2024 at the age of 64.

Born May 5, 1959, Steve grew up with his parents and sisters in Royal Oak Michigan. He attended Royal Oak Kimble High School. He would go on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, where he honed his skills and passion for teaching in between baseball and basketball games.

After graduation, Steve brought the Spartan spirit to Texas and began a fulfilling career with Fort Worth ISD. His innovative approach to education, coupled with his genuine care and support for his students, made him a beloved figure in his schools. His passion for teaching was matched only by his dedication to coaching, where he mentored and inspired student-athletes, teaching them the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Many of his students at Green B. Trimble Technical High School and Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School would continue on to become lifelong friends. Steve was influential in Fort Worth ISD at the district level for many years as the Athletic Facilities Manager and Area Director.

Moving to Texas also led Steve to his beloved wife, Carrie, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Together they taught in the school district, and in retirement, they traveled the country collecting unique antiques for their antique booths. Their journeys would become some of their most treasured memories. When they weren't planning their next adventure, Steve could be found in his workshop piecing together steampunk furniture, lamps, and various items for his family. Their home became a reflection of their travels ad discoveries, each item carefully selected and cherished. They also cherish and display family heirlooms. If you ever came over for a homecooked meal or a game of Euchre, Steve could tell you the unique story behind each new piece in the collection.

He had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, with whom he loved to spend time. He often enjoyed sharing his love of Rock and Roll music, taking them to the movies for Christmas, or teaching them in his workshop. From impromptu Euchre lessons that sparked friendly rivalry to adventures across the country, he was the heart of family gatherings, creating moments of joy that will be treasured forever.

Steve is survived by his wife Carrie Grant, sister Linette Colaprete (Ed), father-in-law Harold Underwood, mother-in-law Rita Wood, brother-in-law Craig Goodman, sister-in-law Shawna Dickey (Dan), sister-in-law Sharee Lewis (David), nieces Elise Arnoldi, Sarah Spradlin, Hailey Goodson, and Amy Dickey, nephews Gary Colaprete, Grant Goodman, Allen Goodman, Matthew Dickey, and Joshua Lewis, and many extended family members. He is proceeded in death by his father, Ellis Grant, mother Emma Grant, and sister Danielle Goodman.

As we say goodbye to this incredible man, we remember not just what he taught us, but how he lived and loved. His spirit, his laughter, and dedication to making a difference, enriched by the love he shared with Carrie, will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17th from 2PM-5PM at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. A memorial service to celebrate Steve's legacy will be held Sunday, February 18th at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas starting at 3PM. A graveside service will take place Monday, February 19th at 3PM at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady, Texas.
