Allen “Al” Leon Adams was born to Leon and Rosie Adams on March 2, 1931, in Palmer, Texas. He was the older brother of Donald Adams. Al passed away on April 13, 2024, at his home in Mansfield, Texas and was then peacefully reunited with his beloved wife, Margaret Mary Adams.
Al joined the Army in 1951 and proudly served his country in the Korean War, trained as a radio operator and paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. Al began his employment at LTV Aerospace Corporation, where he successfully ended his career in finance management. Some of Al’s favorite hobbies included parachute jumping, playing chess, and piloting his airplane. In addition, he was an avid golfer and a member at Walnut Creek Country Club, where he acquired his dream home overlooking the 18th hole. Al achieved his last hole in one at age 86. He had countless golf companions and friends. Most of all, Al enjoyed his retirement with his best friend, Marge. Together they hosted many dinner parties, attended theatre, and enjoyed dancing. The local Barnes and Noble bookstore knew them well as they visited often to drink coffee and read.
Al was predeceased by his wife Marge, parents Leon and Rosie Adams, brother Donald Adams, and son, Joseph Martino. Al is survived by his children Patricia Rapplean, Alan Dale (Kathy) Adams, James (Griselda) Martino, John (Phyllis) Martino, and Mary (Steven) Joy, grandchildren Scott (Natasha) Rapplean, Kristen (Matt) Max, Amy Rapplean, Blake (Stormie) Carter, Brooke Carter, Paige Martino, Gabriel Martino, Paulette Martino, Jennifer Joy, Michael (Mallory) Conn, Brian (Kim) Carter, Lydia Joy, Rebekah Joy and Roger Brackmann, great grandchildren, Kassidy Rapplean, Kayley Max, Kaden Max, Kristen Max, Zach Rosen, Caleb Rosen, Tuck Carter, Annie Carter, Charlie Kate Conn, and Vincent Martino, and numerous extended family and friends.
At Al’s request, no service is planned. Al and Marge’s ashes will be interred together Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Mansfield, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support.woundedwarriorproject.org or help.dav.org.
