Barbara Anne Ervin, nee Perry, was born on December 2, 1936, near Britton, Texas, to NB (Polie) and Grace Perry. She left this earth on September 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion.
A lifelong resident of Mansfield, Barbara graduated from Mansfield High School in 1954, where she met the love of her life, Rodger. The couple tied the knot in June 1956, and together they built a beautiful life, centered around family, friends, and community.
Barbara embarked on her professional journey with her first job at Texas Electric Company in downtown Fort Worth. Her career blossomed when she joined the Mansfield Independent School District, where she dedicated many years of service before retiring. Barbara’s commitment to her work was well-known, but it paled in comparison to her dedication to her family.
She was the embodiment of love, always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, ensuring that those she cared for felt cherished. Football and baseball were among her passions, and she delighted in cheering on her favorite teams, inviting friends and family to join in the excitement.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Rene’ Moericke, and her husband, Gale; three grandchildren, Zack Moericke and his wife, Hanna, Brandon Brumley and his wife, Alex, and Alyssa Hilts and her husband, Matt; and three great-grandchildren, Liam, Brin, and Grayson Hilts. She also leaves behind numerous family members and dear friends whose lives she touched profoundly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rodger, and their beloved daughter, Angela Kay Porter. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she left behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Blessing Funeral Home, located at 401 Elm Street, Mansfield, TX, 76063. Following the celebration, she will be laid to rest in a burial service commencing at 2:00 PM at Mansfield Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Mansfield, TX, 76063.
In remembrance of Barbara, we find solace in the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1, "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven." Barbara's time on this earth may have concluded, but her love and spirit will resonate in our hearts forever.
