Barbara Ann Seger, beloved mother and cherished friend, left this world on July 4, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on January 9, 1936, in San Benito, Texas, to Othel D. and Marjorie Bigham, Barbara's early years were filled with fond memories, particularly those spent in the warm embrace of her grandmother and surrounded by dear friends. It was in these formative years that her profound faith began to take root, nurtured by the teachings of her Presbyterian upbringing.
She graduated high school in 1954, ready to embark on a journey that would shape her life and the lives of those around her. In the same year, Barbara met the love of her life, Jim Seger, marking the beginning of a beautiful courtship that culminated in marriage in July of 1955. Together, they created a loving home where their three children—James Dave Seger, Jami Dawn Seger, and Jeffrey Dryden Seger—grew into successful and happy adults, an accomplishment that brought Barbara boundless joy and pride.
Barbara worked full-time at the telephone company, devoting herself diligently to her job. Yet, it was her family that she held as her life's greatest work. Her legacy lives on through her children, who embody the sweet, funny, and loving attributes that were so characteristic of their mother. In every interaction, Barbara was a testament to the power of love—a guiding light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cooking was one of Barbara's greatest passions, and she poured her heart into creating meals that brought family and friends together. Her kitchen was a sanctuary, filled with laughter, stories, and the delightful aroma of home-cooked favorites. She derived immense joy from spending time with her grandchildren, sharing wisdom, love, and her signature humor, which never failed to bring smiles to their faces.
Barbara’s faith was her anchor, guiding her through both joyful and challenging times. She found solace in cherished scripture, often reflecting on passages like Psalm 23 and the comforting words of the Lord’s Prayer, as well as John 14:1-6, all of which strengthened her spirit and deepened her convictions.
Barbara Ann Seger leaves behind a treasured legacy—a legacy defined by love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Her family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well-lived at visitation on July 15, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, both held at 401 Elm St, Mansfield, Texas. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, at 2:30 PM.
In these moments of remembrance, we find comfort in knowing that Barbara’s remarkable journey continues to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
