Bobbie Sue Odom

August 6, 1936 — December 7, 2023

Bobbie Sue (Raines) Odom, 87, of Lillian, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Bobbie Sue was born on August 6, 1936, to Willard Robert and Dorothy (Shelley) Raines in Collin County, Texas. She liked to say that she grew up in the dugout while traveling from town to town wherever her father’s baseball team took them.

Bobbie Sue married the love of her life, Paul Odom, Jr. on July 9, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas. Over the course of her life, she worked as a secretary for many different companies, but typically became known as secretary/boss by the time she left. First and foremost, she lived for her family, and was the go-to person for advice, love, and support that was never failing.

In the 70s, she and Paul Jr. bought and began renovating a house in Lillian that was built in 1902. Over the years and on weekends, they worked tirelessly to make that house their home which became their pride and joy. They furnished the house with their many antiques which they continued to acquire and refinish throughout their lifetime. Together, they also enjoyed going to yard sales and estate sales to add to their collection. One of Bobbie Sue’s favorite collections was her antique Iris glassware, and she was always so excited when she found another piece, especially if it was at a bargain price!

She loved sitting on her porch with Paul Jr. and visiting with friends and family over the years. Many hours were spent there, and it was a peaceful and favorite place for many who knew them to stop by for a visit and to forget about their problems for a while.

Bobbie Sue was a fiercely loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She strongly believed in the Lord and knew who she would meet in heaven when she opened her eyes. Granny, as she became known to most over the years, had a mischievous and comical sense of humor and loved to catch people off guard with her oftentimes colorful comments. She was never too tired or too busy for a practical joke and would spend hours working on a “project” just for a good laugh. She was the life and the “boss” of every party, but also managed to do it with humor and grace.

Bobbie Sue leaves behind 2 children: Debbie Kale and Paula Hill, 4 grandchildren: Cliff Boaz, Quenten Boaz, Suzie Knuppel, and Jennie Knuppel, and 4 great grandchildren: Riley Boaz, Aubrey Boaz, Gavin Rose, and Quinn Boaz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of Bobbie Sue Odom’s memory. Forever Loved, Forever Missed, & Forever in our Hearts!
