Christine Gonzalez, 84, passed away on August 27, 2025 in Mansfield, Texas. She was born on December 29, 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas to Frank and Elvida Vasquez. Christine was raised in Fort Worth, where she attended and graduated from Technical High School (now known as Trimble Tech) in 1959.
In 1961, she married her beloved husband, Pedro Gonzalez, and together they celebrated the joys and challenges of raising four children. Christine devoted herself to her family, always holding them in her daily prayers. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she consistently made time for friends and the many cherished people she encountered throughout her life.
Professionally, Christine was a dental assistant in both Florida and Texas before dedicating over 20 years of her life as a superintendent's secretary at Fort Worth Independent School District, retiring as the superintendent's secretary. Her work-life exemplified her commitment to service and support of others, traits that mirrored her family life.
A woman who truly found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Christine had a profound love for old movies. She would happily share her passion for "dusty" classics with her family, turning each viewing into a cherished gathering. Cooking was another avenue for her creativity; she delighted in preparing award-winning dishes that brought everyone together around the dining table.
“Chris,” as she was affectionately known, could captivate anyone’s attention with her lively storytelling. It was often said that it took less than ten minutes of conversation with her for the topic to circle back to her adored family—a testament to her genuine love and pride for those closest to her. Christine’s heart was as vast as her smile, and she radiated warmth and compassion to those around her.
Christine gracefully transitioned from this world in the presence of her children, saying the rosary just before passing. She entered hospice care 12 days earlier, exemplifying her strength and unwavering faith until the very end.
Beloved Mom and Nana, Christine will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her unyielding love for family and her steadfast devotion to her faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Gonzalez; her parents, Frank Vasquez and Elvida Vasquez; her sister, Magdalene Parsons; and her brother, Frank Vasquez, Jr.
She is survived by her four devoted children: daughters Monica White and her husband Matthew, Marcia Formby and her husband Aaron, Mari Maldonado and her husband Fred, and son Daniel Gonzalez and his wife D'Ann Gonzalez. Christine also leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Bethany, Colin, Audrey, Sydney, Natelie Jo, Myles, Aidan, Jett, and Reese; and one great-grandchild, Jasper. She is further survived by multiple deeply cherished nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, all who had the privilege of knowing her throughout her remarkable life.
A memorial service will be held on December 22, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield, Texas, followed by burial at the Dallas - Ft Worth National Cemetery on December 26, 2025. Christine's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who loved her, a shining example of what it means to nurture, love, and pray for family.
