In Loving Memory of Corina Cartagena de Aguilar
1939 – 2026
It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our loved one, Corina Cartagena de Aguilar. At the age of 86, Corina passed peacefully, surrounded by family who deeply loved and cared for her.
Corina’s greatest source of pride was the large and loving family she created. Her memory is deeply cherished by her children: Rodolfo Aguilar (Chela), Corina Guillén (Mario), Medardo Aguilar, María Ayala, Betty Aguilar, Marlene Aguilar Nahas (Albert), and David Aguilar (Meybi), Gilberto Ayala; her grandchildren: Raúl, Claudia, Carlos, Dalia, Linda Grace, Melissa, Vanessa, Kathy, Christy, Carlos Medardo, Rodolfo Franklin, Rodrigo, Michaela, Gabriel, Rafael, Brandon, Monica, Gabriela, and Eduardo; and her great-grandchildren: Maia, Raúl, Hector, Anthuan Rey, and Gracie. She is also lovingly remembered by her sibling, Conchita, as well as countless extended family members, dear friends, and caregivers whose lives she touched profoundly.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Medardo, her brother Guillermo, her parents Graciela and Mariano, and her beloved son-in-law, Mario.
From ranch life in Chalatenango to city life in San Salvador, and eventually to suburban life in Dallas and Washington, D.C., she always chose to be surrounded by her family.
She had a rich social life in El Salvador, with many close friends who adored her.
She loved to be pampered at a salon, freshly manicured, and covered in creams, lotions and perfumes.
She enjoyed the shade of large trees, the smell of spring flowers and snuggling with family pets.
Corina spoke her mind, always asked for what she wanted, and protected her family with unwavering courage and strength. Despite the many hardships she faced, Corina’s faith remained steadfast, and her sense of humor was a constant source of light.
As a deeply religious woman, not a day passed that she didn’t pray and give thanks to God for her abundant family. Every time she said goodbye, it came with a blessing to stay safe and be taken care of on your journey. As Corina enters the Kingdom of Heaven, we say goodbye and wish her the same blessing.
Corina now rests, embraced by the Lord whom she loved so much and strove to serve; and is in the company of her beloved husband. May she rest in peace.
