Darwin Barboza

October 18, 1944 — November 7, 2025

Mansfield

Darwin Barboza passed away on November 7, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1944, to loving parents Arthur and Flossie Barboza in San Angelo, Texas. Darwin's life was one defined by love and dedication to family and friends.

Darwin’s journey included a 30-year career with LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie where he held various positions in the Materials Department expediting critical aircraft parts. His dedication to his work contributed to timely aircraft production and deliveries to their customers. Darwin and many of his LTV colleagues played on a Softball Team for many years together.

In 1974 while working at LTV in the Receiving Area, he met his wife, Launa. That first date turned into a second, third and then the real commitment. They married at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church on September 14, 1974. Their son, Michael David, entered their life in 1980 along with the thrill of a new little person to love.

Darwin retired from Vought in 1999 at age 55. In 2008 when Launa retired, they moved to Mansfield and joined Walnut Creek Country Club. They have enjoyed the opportunity to make a few new friends and simply enjoy their retired life. They have enjoyed a loving marriage for over 51 beautiful years, a union characterized by deep affection, partnership, and shared dreams. Together they built a life filled with cherished memories and an enduring bond that served as an example to all who knew them.

Darwin loved playing golf, going to Rangers’ spring training in Arizona with Launa and Michael, vacationing in Cozumel with their good friends Linda and Kirby Williams, watching the Rangers and eating lunch every Wednesday with Kirby and the gang at Mac’s.

He was a simple man who never owned a cell phone or a personal computer – just saw no need to complicate his life. Darwin was a kind soul with a great sense of humor and loved to deliver “zingers” to his friends every time they met up. We’ll all miss him every day for the rest of our lives.

As we gather in remembrance, we invite all who were touched by Darwin's life to join us for a Funeral Mass on Friday, November 14, at 10 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, located at 500 East Dallas Street, Mansfield, Texas. Prior to the Mass, there will be Visitation and Rosary held at Blessing Funeral Home at 401 Elm Street, Mansfield, Texas, beginning at 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 PM. These moments together will allow us to support one another in our shared grief and celebrate Darwin’s remarkable life.

Following the Funeral Mass, Darwin will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park situated at 3100 White Settlement Road, Ft Worth, Texas, next to his parents and among the tranquil grounds where many have found peace.

Darwin leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love. As we gather to honor him, let us reflect on the impact he made on all our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
