Funeral services for Daryl P. Jones will be held on Tuesday, July 29 @ 5:00 PM at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Els Street, Mansfield, Texas. The Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Daryl Paul Jones, 86, of Mansfield, died Monday, July 21, 2025 at home surrounded by loved ones.
Daryl was born February 17, 1939 in Huron, SD to Lawrence and Anna (Bymers) Jones. He spent his early years in Frankfort, SD and left high school in 1956 to join the US Air Force. He married the love of his life, Virginia Lee VanPelt, on August 9, 1958 in Clovis, NM.
After completing his service, Daryl and Virginia returned to her familial homestead in western Nebraska where he was a valued hand responsible for many important tasks on the ranch. He returned to school eventually earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University and an MS in the same from Arizona State University. Daryl had a long and successful career in the construction equipment field which took him and his family to many locations in the US. He ultimately retired in 2004 from Vulcan Materials Company where he had served as Vice President of the Corporate Engineering Department and Vice President of large capital projects.
Daryl was a lifelong learner and an avid reader with a love for westerns. He was a deep thinker and had an exceptional thirst for knowledge. For many years, he and his wife, Ginny, enjoyed traveling the open road on their motorcycle. Daryl loved the mountains, the desert landscape, fishing and sharing stories. In recent years, he deeply enjoyed attending Bible Study Fellowship where he dedicated himself to rigorous study of the Bible.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 67 years, Virginia; his daughters and sons-in-law, A Laina and Rick Amyx of Arlington, TX and A'Lissa and Tom Kuecker of Nashville, TN; brothers and sister-in-laws, Wanda Jones of Lubbock, TX, Michael and Betsy Jones of Waco, TX, Daniel and Lisa Jones of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Brandon (Emily) Rossi of Mansfield, TX, Zoe and Max Kuecker of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Noah, Addie, Caroline and Luke Rossi.
Daryl was preceded in death by his infant daughter Michelle Lee Jones; his parents; and, his twin brother, Dallas.
Burial will take place at Dallas - Ft Worth National cemetery on Wednesday, July 30 at 10:00 AM.
