Elaine Ruth Fulps

August 25, 1947 — April 6, 2026

Arlington

Born August 25, 1947 to Dan and Ruth How in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest of 3 children. She graduated from Lansdowne Aldan High School, Class of 1965, in Lansdowne, PA. She studied voice under the Dean of Music at the University of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Community Church Choir of Hampton and Newport News, VA where she was a soloist for the Bicentennial Presentation in 1976. She once performed for renowned composer John Williams, who was impressed with her performance and applauded her.

She was active in community theater and choral societies for many years. She also sang in numerous church choirs including as a guest soloist upon request. She loved music, especially classical, opera, show tunes and religious hymns.

She was an animal lover from an early age having raised a pet duck, pet squirrels and several dogs, cats and rabbits.

After her two sons graduated high school, she attended nursing school earning her LPN license while graduating at the top of her class. She practiced her nursing profession for many years until an unfortunate accident forced her to retire.

She never met a stranger, easily making friends wherever she went and would be the first to help someone in need. The children of friends became her “adopted children or grandchildren”. She loved kids regardless of who they were.

She loved to travel, especially Disney World, and take cruises often.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Layne; her sons T. J. and Earle, her daughters Caitlin (Dave) and Brenna (Matt), her brother Bob (Sis), sister Connie (Randy), 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
