Retired USAF Colonel Frank J. Loessberg Jr., passed away September 7, 2025. Born in San Antonio, Texas the 22nd of January 1930 to Frank J. Loessberg Sr. and Rose Frerich Loessberg. He was raised in San Antonio, graduating from St. Mary’s University with a BBA degree. After a short time working for Goodyear, he entered the Air Force Aviation Cadet Program and received his 2nd Lt. commission in 1954. He married Joyce M. Scott and began his USAF career including several US and foreign Far East assignments (Korea, Philippines, and Vietnam). He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, 8 Air medals, with other medals and ribbons. Later he obtained his MS degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. On retirement he worked at Bell Helicopter and he and Joyce lived on a small ranch in Burleson. He is survived by Joyce, wife of 70 years, children (Burt J. Loessberg, Linda L. Loessberg-Zahl, Peggy A. Stauffer), eight grandchildren (B.J., Evan, Alex, Aaron, Josh, Lexi, Audrey, Emily) and three great-grandchildren (Harrison, Allie, Grant). The funeral mass will be at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mansfield, Texas on September 18, 2025, with internment at Dallas National Cemetery.
