Harold Ronald Story passed peacefully from this life on June 21, 2025, at the age of 86.
Harold was born on September 16, 1938, in Crawford, Oklahoma, the youngest of ten children born to James and Bertie Story. He grew up in Old Glory, Texas, where he graduated from Old Glory High School and learned the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance that would guide him throughout his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before beginning a career as a skilled carpenter. Harold later worked for many years at Professional Ambulance, retiring as shop manager. Known for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and unwavering dependability, he earned the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him.
Harold was a man of few words but endless wisdom. With his quick wit, subtle humor, and that unforgettable quiet giggle, he brought laughter and light to those around him. He lived a life rooted in generosity, diligence, and devotion to his family. Whether offering a helping hand, fixing something with his skilled hands, or simply being present, Harold made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He loved spending time outdoors, watching old westerns, playing dominoes, and was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
In 1970, Harold married the love of his life, Peggy Sue Potts. Together, they built a life of love, strength, and shared laughter, celebrating 44 years of marriage before her passing in 2015.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Kedra Armstrong and Karla Byrd; his “son” Stuart Armstrong; grandchildren Dakota Byrd, Lexie Bean and husband Gunner, Luke Armstrong, Jake Armstrong, and Cooper Armstrong; and his two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Wayne Bean. He also leaves behind his best friend, Elaine Daves, and countless others who loved and admired him.
His legacy of love, hard work, and quiet humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
