James graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1951, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service and family.
His distinguished career spanned over 30 years with Bell Helicopter, a testament to his work ethics and commitment. Additionally, James served in the Army for 36 years, dedicating his life1 to his country and retiring as a Sergeant First Class, specializing as a communications instructor. In 1954, James married his devoted wife Dorothy Raye Ballard, with whom he shared a deep and loving partnership until her passing. Together they built a family and created lasting memories. James is survived by his son, Donald Ballard (Lori), daughter, Karinda Daugherty (Jack), and siblings, Billy Joe Ballard (Shirley), Robert Lee Ballard (Betty), and Sandra Jean Williams (Maxie). He also missed dearly his late parents, wife and children, Roger Dale Ballard, James Garry Ballard, Sonya Gayle Etchison, and grandson, James Ray Ballard, also one sister and four brothers who left a void in his heart.
James had a multitude of interests that brought him joy, including bowling, attending ballgames, and listening and singing to the old county and gospel music. His zest for life and passion for storytelling made him a treasured companion to many.
