Johnny Doyle Davis, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and cherished friend to many, peacefully ascended into Heaven on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of 76.
Johnny was born on May 9, 1950, to William K. Davis and Frances Jerlene Davis. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, Johnny met a missionary at his church and felt a calling to serve the Lord. Following that calling, he traveled to Africa, where he spent three years assisting a missionary and sharing in the Lord's work.
After returning home, Johnny met the love of his life, Paula. They married on March 18, 1978, beginning a loving marriage that would span 48 years. Johnny devoted his life to his family and took great joy in making his beloved wife happy.
Throughout his working years, Johnny was a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked for the Engineering Department of Montgomery Ward for six years before joining his father-in-law in the family machine shop. In 1982, Johnny began working in the glass business. He and Paula eventually owned and operated their own glass company for 35 years until his retirement.
Johnny enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures, including fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and camping. Yet, more than anything, he treasured spending time with Paula. His love for his wife, family, friends, and the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, William K. Davis and Frances Jerlene Davis, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Jackie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 48 years, Paula; his siblings, Jo An (Ronny), Marlin, Bruce Davis, and Judy Mercer; his brother-in-law, Danny Payne; his sister-in-law, Geneva Dry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends who will forever remember his kindness, friendship, and love.
Johnny's life was one of faith, devotion, hard work, adventure, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
