Johnny Ray Watson Jr., born on December 26, 1972, in Arlington, Texas, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus on July 8, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. From his very first days, it was clear that Johnny had a strong-willed, fighting spirit that endured many challenges throughout his life. Despite what doctors said about his outlook, God had 53 years planned for him. Johnny was a Christmas miracle, and brought warmth and tenderness to everyone privileged enough to know him.
Johnny’s early life was shaped by the loving guidance of his parents, Johnny Ray Watson Sr. and Belinda Joyce Watson. Growing up in a family where kindness, laughter, and selflessness were every day values, Johnny naturally became the gentle and loving soul who would always put others before himself. He graduated high school in Alvarado, Texas in 1989, a milestone that set the stage for a life marked by curiosity and a natural talent for understanding the world. Johnny was an unapologetic Christian who had a profound relationship with Jesus Christ. He attended church on Sundays with his close family. It softens and eases the pain of his loved ones, knowing that he is now dancing in Heaven with Jesus.
A natural master of all things technological, Johnny developed a deep love for computers and electronics. He found joy and purpose in tinkering with gadgets, often rescuing his parent's broken electronics, computers, and televisions, and breathing new life into them. For Johnny, it wasn’t just about machines and wires; it was about restoring what others thought was lost, and helping the people he cherished most.
The close bonds he cherished with his loved ones defined the man he became: a man you could count on at any time, for anything you may need. He is lovingly remembered by his father, Johnny Ray Watson Sr.; his mother, Belinda Joyce Watson; his sister, Tammy Thrash, and brother-in-law, John Thrash; his brother, Jason Watson, and sister-in-law, Ellen Watson; and by many adoring nieces and nephews, who loved to play hide and seek with Uncle Johnny.
Those who knew Johnny felt the quiet strength of his kindness, the steady reassurance of his loving nature, and his willingness to give anything—even the shirt off his back—to help someone in need. Described by his family and friends as gentle, kind, and loving, Johnny’s legacy will live on through the countless acts of selfless generosity and he is forever memorialized in our hearts as someone to strive to be more like. Johnny Ray Watson Jr. leaves behind a legacy of unwavering goodness, a testament to a life that, though gone too soon, touched so many hearts. His family and friends find comfort in their memories—the easy laughter, the thoughtful gestures, the endless patience—and in the knowledge that his gentle spirit will live on forever in Heaven.
Until we see you again, Johnny.
