Jose Angel Zapata, born to Francisco Zapata and Magdalena Rangel on November 26, 1945, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, passed away on January 25, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas.

Jose dedicated over 25 years of his career to AAFES, where his work ethic and dedication were widely respected.

Throughout his life, Jose cultivated passions that included a deep love for the San Francisco 49ers, dancing, riding his bike around the neighborhood, and enjoying his favorite Texas T-Bone steak from Texas Road House while watching his beloved novellas.

Jose was married to Pricilla for 47 years. Jose is survived by his beloved wife, Pricilla Zapata, and their children: Rosa Amelia Paredes, Juana Magdalena Santos (Mike), Jose Angel Zapata Jr. (Angelica), Jorge Alberto Zapata, Martin Gonzales (Nora), Joe Gonzales (Twila), Melissa Reyes (Fidencio), Richard Garcia, and Elizabeth Gonzalez (Cesar). Jose was proud to have 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren all of whom brought him immense joy. He was also the proud brother to Jesus Mancha, with whom he shared countless memories.

Jose is proceeded in death by his cherished parents Francisco and Magdalena Zapata, and seven of his siblings.
