Katherine Martinez

Katherine Louise (Cook) Martinez, went to be with the Lord November 15, 2023. She was born at 10:00 PM on March 10, 1927, to Charles Cook and Bonnie Benton Cook, at the Dozier Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in Nashville, graduating from Humefogg Technical High School in 1945. She first married in 1947 and had three beautiful children, Charles, Fonda, and Bonnie.

Katherine worked as a bookkeeper and office supervisor in Steel Mills, for about 12 years, in Gary, Indiana. She then worked for an Air Products and Chemicals Company. Katherine then worked for 30 more years, accepting jobs spanning all across the nation.

Katherine loved the Lord with her whole heart, raising her children to follow Christ. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas since 1983. She had a gift of hospitality and served her church family well.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles T. and Bonnie L. Cook, husband Charles F. Jones (in 1993), husband Robert Shelton (in 2010), son Rev. Charles A. Jones (in 2004), and daughter Fonda L. Shelton (in 2008).

She is survived by her husband Domingo Martinez, daughter Bonnie M. Gunter and husband Johnny, eight grandchildren Carrie Breckel and husband Rob, Caleb Jones and wife Rachel, Cherith Pascal and husband Luke, Stephanie J. White, Eric Shelton and wife Christa, Amanda Shelton, Gordon Carter, Jennifer Godby and husband Brett, Katherine J. Gunter, as well as 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.
