Marcella “Mickey” Allene (Ecord) Barrett, 90, of Mansfield, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
She was born on August 26, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas to Allen Edwin Ecord and Cleta Kelsey Guthrie Ecord. Mickey grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University, where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. On August 4, 1956, Mickey married Jackie Dean Barrett. The couple had 59 years together at his passing. Mickey was a huge fan of tennis. When she wasn’t on the court playing, she was in front of the TV watching Grand Slam tournaments, with Wimbledon being her favorite. Mickey was a long-time member of P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization where women motivate, educate, and celebrate other women. Mickey loved to travel. She and Jack enjoyed many cruises with their family and friends. Mickey was very active in the local United Methodist Church, and enjoyed serving in the United Methodist Women (UMW) and attending Bible Studies. Mickey loved professional football. She was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan when she lived in Washington DC, but quickly became a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan when the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex became her home. Mickey also enjoyed playing bridge and hosting friends and family gatherings.
Mickey is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barrett; parents, Allen and Cleta Ecord; brother Elwood Ecord; sisters Alleta Biggs and Patricia Baker.
She is survived by her children: Brett and Lori Barrett, Scott and Betsy Barrett, Brenda Barrett; Grandchildren: Evan and Regan Barrett, Megan and Teddy Mundt, Ryan and Elizabeth Blue, Shelby Blue; Great-Grandchildren: Kaden, Cooper, and Mackenzie Mundt; and Bohdi and Wiley Barrett.
A private service will be held for Mickey at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery where she will be interred with Jack.
