Martha Salinas DeLuna
January 11, 1947 ~ April 7, 2026
Martha Salinas DeLuna was born on January 11, 1947, in Harlingen, Texas, to Beatriz and Juventino Salinas. She passed peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 79. To know Martha was to know what it felt like to be truly welcomed, by a warm smile, an open door, and a heart that never seemed to run out of room.
On December 23, 1966, she married Geronimo DeLuna, the love of her life, and together they built something enduring: a home, a family, and a life rooted in devotion. She poured that same devotion into her four daughters, Belinda, Brenda, Geneva, and Beatrice, and into every grandchild who was lucky enough to call her Grandma.
For 20 years, Martha served as a Campus Facilities Attendant for Mansfield ISD, quietly and faithfully tending to the district's administrative building and the gym where athletes competed and community gathered. She was loyal, responsible, and steady, the kind of person every institution hopes to have and rarely deserves to keep. She showed up, day after day, without fanfare, because that is simply who she was.
Her home reflected her soul. The walls were lined with photographs capturing every major and minor moment worth remembering, and little trinkets of memory filled every corner. She believed no moment was too small to hold onto. She always had a dog by her side, a lifelong companion in whatever chapter she was living.
Martha loved to travel, and few places called to her like the shoreline at Galveston, where she made some of her most treasured memories with her family. She appreciated the simple pleasures too: a Whataburger when the craving hit, her favorite music filling the room, the sound of her grandchildren's voices on the other end of the phone. She called to check in, because to her, checking in was love made practical.
In her later years, Martha gave her time generously to local hospitals and community centers. She had a deep admiration for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the mission of caring for sick children. Helping kids, in whatever form it took, was something close to a calling for her.
Calm. Soft-spoken. Warm. Consistent. These are the words her family reaches for when they try to describe her, because Martha DeLuna was the rare kind of person who made the world feel more stable just by being in it. She was always welcoming. Always smiling. Always there.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Geronimo DeLuna, and her mother, Beatriz Gonzalez. She is survived by her four daughters: Belinda Rojas, Brenda DeLuna, Geneva Coronado, and Beatrice Martinez, along with her grandchildren, other loving family members, and all who were fortunate enough to have sat at her table or stood in the warmth of her presence.
Martha, you are already missed. But the photos are still on the walls, the memories are still with us, and your smile lives on in every face that loved you.
