Mary Ann Higgins

Mary Ann Higgins, 76, passed away peacefully on April 11, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 30, 1944, in Glendale, California, to Edward and Alice Bock. In the late 1950s, her family moved to Texas, where she spent most of her life.

On December 22, 1966, Mary Ann married Oran "Jack" Higgins. They shared 57 years of love and partnership together.

Mary Ann graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a degree in music. She dedicated her career to teaching, making a significant impact on the lives of many students. During her time in Virginia, she taught at a segregated school, advocating for educational equality. Upon returning to Texas, she taught first through fifth grade at Effie Morris Elementary in the Lake Worth ISD for 28 years before retiring.

Her greatest joys in life were her family, music, traveling, and teaching. Her passion for education and her students was evident throughout her career.

Mary Ann is survived by her devoted spouse, Oran "Jack" Higgins, her brother Joe Bock, her sister Cindy Bock, and her daughter Diane Michelle Raczynski.

A memorial service will be held at noon on April 23 at Blessing Funeral to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to [Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County Home - Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County and Friends of the Mansfield Public Library https://mansfieldlibraryfriends.org/ ]. She will be deeply missed and remembered with love.
