Michael ‘Mike’ Alan Lynn was born on July 12, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas, to Haskell and Johnnie Mae Lynn. From a young age, Mike exhibited a quiet strength and unwavering dedication to his family and country—qualities that would come to define his remarkable life.
In November 1969, during a turbulent chapter in American history, Mike answered the call of duty when he was drafted into the United States Army amid the Vietnam War. Serving with honor and steadfast commitment for two years, he distinguished himself as a Soldier who valued service above self. While stationed in the idyllic surroundings of Hawaii, Mike also tapped into his entrepreneurial spirit, buying, restoring, and selling motorcycles to military families frequently arriving and departing from the area. This side venture not only showcased his mechanical savvy but also his keen business acumen.
Upon completing his military service, Mike transitioned into civilian life with the same dedication and reliability. He embarked on a diligent career at Vought, focusing his talents in the production control area. Colleagues recall him as both meticulous and dependable, someone who balanced responsibility with a lighthearted approach to work and life.
Mike’s passions extended well beyond the factory floor. He found exhilaration and community on the drag strip, where he could often be found spending weekends racing cars he personally built and maintained at the Kennedale race track. These high-speed pursuits were more than a hobby—they were an expression of his zest for life and a place where camaraderie thrived. It was at the Texas Motorplex that Mike forged a lasting friendship exceeding three decades with Michael Gregory. Off the track, Mike’s competitive spirit remained ever present at local bars, where he honed his skills at pool and poker. Known affectionately for his sharp wit and playful nature, he was a formidable opponent and a beloved presence, quick with a joke and always ready to slyly glance over a grandchild’s shoulder during a game to keep everyone on their toes. Even as his memory began to wane in his later years, Mike never lost the larger-than-life personality that endeared him to all.
Perhaps the greatest joy in Mike’s life was the 35 treasured years shared with his beloved wife, Linda “Glenda” Goggans. Mike took pride in sharing all he loved with Glenda—from drag racing and billiards to card games—and their enduring partnership stood as a testament to mutual respect, unwavering support, and profound love. Together, they navigated life’s challenges and blessings hand in hand, inspiring those fortunate enough to witness their bond.
Michael Alan Lynn passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy marked by service, integrity, and devotion to family.
