Morreta Ann Weatherford

September 30, 1939 — April 11, 2026

Fort Worth

FORT WORTH- Morreta Ann Weatherford passed away on Saturday, April 11,2026. Morreta was born in 1939 in Mansfield Texas, the only child of Charles Mordica and Ellen Holland. Raised as a farmer’s daughter, she grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work and family. She attended school in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1955. She later pursued coursework at University of Texas at Arlington.

In the 1960s, Morreta began her career working in downtown Fort Worth, where she applied her administrative talents across the oil and gas industry, a law office, and the banking sector. In 1968, she married James Weatherford, and together they built a life centered on family. In the late 1970s, she devoted herself fully to raising her children while also serving as the primary caregiver for her aging parents.

Following their passing, Morreta returned to the workforce with the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she served as both a substitute and a teacher’s aide. After retiring, she remained active by managing the family’s real estate business and cherishing time spent with her grandchildren.

Morreta found joy in collecting Native American jewelry and pottery, as well as realist Americana paintings. She was a devoted member of Webb Baptist Church and Southcliff Baptist Church, and was actively involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mansfield Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Weatherford; her son Andrew Weatherford and his wife Ruth, along with their children Altas and Sparrow; and her daughter Wendy Holsomback and her husband JT Holsomback.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
