Mansfield

Movel Lee Porter, age 86, of Mansfield, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. She was born at home on October 21, 1939 in Snomac, Oklahoma to Lloyd Elmer Wilson and Allyne Virginia (Holloway) Wilson. Movel would be the third child born out of seven siblings. Movel grew up in the Wolf Oklahoma Oil Patch, along with her 4 brothers and 2 sisters, helping her mother in the kitchen cooking and cleaning. She attended Wolf School before moving to Texas.

Once in Texas, Movel got her first job in Dallas as a car hop at Skippy’s. She was soon introduced by friends to her future husband, Billy Frank Porter. He was a handsome Navy Veteran, employed by LTV of Dallas. Bill and Movel were married on September 25, 1955, where they would go on to celebrate 67 Anniversaries.

On June 16, 1956, their son Frankie Lee was born. Then just a few months later, LTV asked them to move to Maryland to work for at least a year. They returned to Texas in ‘57, Bill was later laid off from LTV during a company buyout by Vought. Bill then started a new career in the insurance field. Then in September 3, 1964, they adopted their daughter, Sharon Renee’ Porter from Hope Cottage of Dallas. Then two years later they built their first home in 1966 in Grand Prairie.

Together over the 67 years, Movel and Bill build a beautiful home and family. Movel was a very loving mother, sister, friend, wonderful seamstress, great bridge player, talented artist, especially decoupage and stain glass. She was a beautiful lady both inside and out. Movel cherished her family, close friends and especially her Mom Allyne. Family reunions and gatherings were one of her favorite things to do. Movel was also employed with several companies; CompuTax in Arlington, GPISD as an attendance clerk. Movel made many wonderful friendships with both the teachers and students. Movel also frustrated a few students too. Movel’s last employment was with National Retail Services where she became a regional manager. Movel retired after 28 years because of a buyout. Bill and Movel also shared a lot of time together square dancing, camping and cruises. The last part of their life, they spent lots of Saturday nights with their other “adopted” family, Johnnie and Wanda High. They were the owners of the Johnny High Show, which later became Arlington Music Hall. Some of Movel’s favorite performers and friends were Mike Stewart, Michael Hix, Steve Holy, Nikki Horner, Hillary Bergman Stanton, Stephanie Pruitt and probably half the audience.

Most importantly, Movel loved Our FATHER in HEAVEN and HIS SON our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. Bill and Movel over their 67 years of marriage were active members of Inglewood and First Methodist Church of Grand Prairie. In 2008, when they moved to Mansfield, they became members of First Methodist Mansfield.
