Ruby Smith, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on August 7, 2024, in Cleburne, Texas. She was born on March 18, 1938,in Sunkist, Oklahoma to Calvin and Clara May Wood.
Ruby graduated from Boswell High School started family, joined the work force, and then eventually started work for General Motors and retired after 26 years where she dedicated herself to her career with passion and commitment. She was a hardworking individual who took pride in her work and made impressions on those around her.
Her loved ones describe her as glue that held their family together. Ruby's warm and loving personality touched the lives of many. She was a warrior who faced life's challenges with grace and strength, always putting her family first. She was a constant, providing unwavering support and understanding in times of need.
Among her hobbies and interests, Ruby found joy in working in the yard and tending to her beloved roses. Her green thumb and love for nature brought beauty and tranquility to her surroundings, reflecting her nurturing and caring spirit.
She had a special bond with her family, always cherishing the time spent together and creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Ruby is survived by her sister, Lela Shorr, and brothers Ray, Jim, Alfred Wood, children, Trina Jackson, Gina Baggett, Rance Smith, and Rex Smith; her 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who will always cherish the memories they shared with their loving grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Clara May Wood; brothers, Wayne and Clyde Wood; and son, Rickie Smith.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on August 9, 2024, at Blessing Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel located at 401 Elm St, Mansfield, Texas, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2024, at Boswell Church of Christ in Boswell, Oklahoma, starting at 12:00 PM.
Ruby's legacy of love, strength, and humor will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the remarkable woman she was.
