Samuel Arthur Rowlett, a cherished member of the Mansfield community, passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on July 13, 1923, in Childress, Texas, Samuel lived a life characterized by service, faith, and a joyful spirit.
For an impressive 70 years, Samuel served as the pastor at Central Baptist Church, where he touched countless lives with his preaching and compassionate guidance. His dedication to his faith was complemented by a Doctorate in Theology from Bible Baptist Seminary, underscoring his commitment to spiritual leadership and his unwavering passion for helping others. Prior to his pastoral career, Samuel honed his skills as a blacksmith and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his courageous service.
Samuel was a loving husband to Billie Ray Graham Rowlett, whom he married on November 15, 1946. His beloved wife, alongside his parents, Margaret and Samuel Arthur Rowlett Sr., and siblings, Helen Todd, Turner Rowlett, and ND Rowlett, and grandson, Brett Craft have all preceded him in death. Their memory continues to inspire those left behind.
He is survived by his loving family, including his daughter Lehia Craft, son Danny Rowlett, and daughter Laurie Liberto and her husband Mark. The joy of Samuel’s life also radiates through his grandchildren Sammy Craft and wife, Michelle, Amanda Rowlett and husband, Jeremiah Hart, Savannah Rowlett and Drew Greathouse, Katie Liberto, and Mark Liberto, as well as his great-grandchildren Emily Craft, Juniper Craft, Sarah Craft, Aiden Craft, Lydia Craft, Devlin Craft, Ruby Lyric Hart, Mila June Hart, Meredith Grace Rowlett, and Grayson Blaize Darrow.
Those who knew Samuel remember him as a “happy-go-lucky” individual, easy-going and humorous, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His legacy endures within each person he encountered, ensuring that his spirit of love and service will continue to flourish.
Visitation will be held on February 6, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at 401 Elm Street, Mansfield, TX 76063, followed by a funeral service on February 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the same location. Samuel's life was a testament to faith and service, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched and the community he adored.
