Sandra Ann Disque, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and devoted servant of God, passed away quietly in Arlington, Texas, on July 30th, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born in Dinuba, California, on March 4th, 1956, Sandra was the youngest of four children and the only girl, growing up alongside three rambunctious brothers. This unique upbringing instilled in her an early toughness that would serve her well throughout her life, particularly during her distinguished career as a Federal Probation Officer.
Sandra was the cherished daughter of Dorothea (Berkenpas) Surratt and E. W. “Pat” Surratt. She spent her formative years in Lubbock, Texas, where she graduated from Lubbock High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Concordia College in Austin, Texas, and later to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she earned her master's degree.
In May of 1990, Sandra married the love of her life, Henry Jacob Disque Jr. Their union was blessed with the birth of their son, Henry Jacob Disque IV, in August of 1992. Sandra deeply believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and God the Father as her father, feeling profoundly blessed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. For her, God’s greatest earthly gift was a loving family, and she considered her son, Henry IV, to be the most kind, loving, caring, and thoughtful child any parent could hope for. Her faith in Jesus Christ and her family were truly the center of her life.
She was immensely proud of the remarkable man her son, Henry IV, has become. She was eternally grateful for the loving care and guidance provided to him over the years by Ms. Leesia Lawton.
Sandra dedicated twenty-five years of her life to public service as an honored Probation Officer in the United States Probation Northern District of Texas, retiring in 2014. Her family often quipped that this was where she finally got to carry the pistol, she sometimes wished she had while growing up with three brothers. Beyond her professional life, Sandra found great joy in creative pursuits, spending countless hours sewing quilts and cross-stitching for her friends and family, creating cherished keepsakes especially at Christmas, her favorite season.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothea and Pat Surratt, her beloved husband, Henry Disque Jr., two of her brothers, Deryl Surratt and Lanny Surratt, and her nephew Justin Surratt.
She is survived by her wonderful son, Henry Disque IV; her brother, Randy Surratt, and his wife, Denise; her nieces, Stacy Christensen and her husband Paul, and Sara Wood; and her nephews, Joshua Surratt, Dee Jay Surratt and his wife Nicole, and Matthew Surratt. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Terry Surratt and Teresa Surratt. Almost a family member, she cherished Brian Melton who provided a presence and steadfast companionship for her son Henry after the loss of her husband. Sandra will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2503 Bedford Rd, Bedford, TX 76021, on Monday, 8 September at 11:00am with a 1:30pm burial ceremony at the
