Sharon Elaine Walker, a devoted registrar for Mansfield ISD for over thirty years and a cherished member of the Mansfield community, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. Born on March 19, 1944, in Staten Island, New York, Sharon’s early life was marked by a unique journey shaped by her father’s military service. This brought her family to various locations including New York, Washington D.C., Germany, and Georgia, enriching her perspective and character from a young age.
Sharon pursued higher education at the University of Texas in Arlington, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, an achievement that reflected her lifelong love of knowledge. Her professional career was distinguished by dedication and commitment, serving as a registrar for Mansfield Independent School District, impacting countless lives over three decades before her well-earned retirement.
Known for her compassionate heart and quiet strength, Sharon was a true lover of animals and found profound joy in nature, engaging in hobbies such as reading, bird watching, and tackling crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed unwinding with her favorite television show, Wheel of Fortune, which brought a lightness and laughter into her days.
Throughout her life, Sharon was surrounded and supported by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Eric Walker, and his wife Amy; her daughters, Erin Kinworthy and husband Rick, Susan Martin, and Shannon Crowson with her husband Jason. Sharon was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and embraced her role as a great-grandmother to numerous great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Stanley Dean II, Tim Crawford, Jack Crawford, and Cheryl Brady, all of whom cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joyce Winant; her father, Stanley Dean; and her devoted husband, Harold Sherman Walker, to whom she was married on August 8th, 1964. Their legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved Sharon.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones for a visitation to celebrate Sharon’s life on May 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blessing Funeral & Cremations, located at 401 Elm St, Mansfield, TX 76063.
Sharon Elaine Walker’s life was one of quiet dedication, joy in simple pleasures, and a deep connection to family and community. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
