William Gordon "Bill" Eaton of Mansfield, TX passed away on May 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his beloved children and family. A celebration of his life will be held on May 17, 2025 at 10:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, TX.
Bill was born January 8, 1959, in Charleston, WV to James P. and Rose K. (Reichardt) Eaton. He moved with his family to Texas in 1964. Bill always joked that he wasn't born in Texas but got here as quickly as he could. Bill had a lifelong career working with the disabled community and was Program Administrator with Tarrant County M.H.M.R.
To those who knew him, Bill was larger than life. He laughed easily and loved fiercely. His loyalty was unwavering. Bill found his purpose in life early and dedicated himself to helping those with disabilities lead productive and meaningful lives. Bill participated in several mission trips to Mexico delivering wheelchairs to those in need. The group also assisted in renovating an orphanage - though Bill's job was to play with the children and make balloon animals.
Bill's passions included cycling and his children. He supported his children in all their endeavors; never missing a game or race in which Samantha or Toby participated. For his children and all who knew him, Bill was our steadfast cheerleader. If you ask those close to him to describe Bill, many would say, "Bill was my best friend." The greatest tribute we can give to honor Bill's life is to continue his legacy of love, compassion, caring, and advocacy for all people. Our world is a better place because he was in it.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Rose Eaton, and his brother, Jimmy. Bill is survived by his children, Toby Eaton and Samantha Davis and husband, Clayton; his grandchildren Cooper and Mackenzie Davis. He is also survived by his sisters, Liz Eaton and husband Terry Wallace, Kathy Eaton, Karen Johnson and husband, George; his niece, Lauren Esaklul and husband Ahmed; nephews Bo Johnson and Will Johnson; great-niece Lynleigh Wallace; great-nephew Callen Wallace, and countless friends he considered family.
We may cry because Bill's life on Earth is over, but always smile because it happened.
