William "Buddy" Camp

March 30, 1942 — October 8, 2026

Mansfield, TX

William Ray “Buddy” Camp of Mansfield, Texas, peacefully passed this life on October 8, 2026. Born March 30, 1942 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Theodore Roosevelt Camp and Fern Pinson Camp, Buddy was known as a man who loved and faithfully served his Lord, his church and his family.

He married Marnee Corbin Camp on September 18, 1976 and together they spent the next 50 years working hard, laughing out loud and being head-over-heels in love. They enjoyed traveling the world and retreating at their beloved Forbes Estates cabin in Colorado and later, at their home in Cuchara. It was from there that Buddy left this life and entered eternity.

A long haul truck driver by profession, Buddy hauled cattle for Johnny McCandless Cattle Company in his early years. He later worked for Gifford Hill, Sears and Dillards before retiring. There was hardly a highway or interstate that he had not traveled at some point in his life.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Jo Hardesty and brother, Sonny Boy, who died in infancy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marnee; son, Scott and wife, Gina; daughter Shelli Gipson and husband, James; daughter Sherri Elam and husband David; grandchildren Sarah Shafer and husband Tyler; Savannah Kubanda and husband Carman; Quincy Elam and wife, Makayla; Dillon Camp; Joshua Camp and wife Emma; Remington Gipson and wife Mia; Madison Payne and husband Daylon; great grandchildren, Theodore Shafer, Olivia Shafer, Maxwell Shafer; Miles Kubanda, Clio Kubanda, Margot Kubanda and Roen Gipson; Wyatt Elam and Brinley Elam; Thomas Camp; Selah Payne and Ezra Payne; sister Barbra Kephart and husband Harold of Wichita Falls along with many beloved nephews and nieces.

Buddy will be remembered as a true Texas gentleman. A strong, yet gentle man’s man who valued hard work, keeping his word, going the extra mile to help a neighbor in need, loving his family in word and deed and, above all, grateful for the saving grace of God given in and through Jesus Christ.

His was a life well lived.
