William Bret Frye, born on January 18, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. He was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by his dedication to family, his career, and his passions.
William began his educational journey at Martin High School, graduating in 1986. He pursued higher education at Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Arlington, where he laid the foundation for a fruitful career. For 23 years, he made significant contributions to the energy sector until finally ending his career with Lonestar Land Services.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, William was a proud Marine, serving from 1991 to 1997. His time in the military was a point of pride in his life, influencing his values of accountability and dependability. His service led him to found the Teufel Hunden Foundation, a successful charity dedicated to supporting fellow Marines, underscoring his giving nature and commitment to helping others.
Beyond his career and military service, William was a man of many interests and hobbies. He relished the camaraderie found in golf, bowling, and baseball, celebrating a noteworthy moment in his bowling career when he bowled a perfect 300. His competitive spirit extended to racquetball, where he earned recognition as a state champion. A man of diverse tastes, William enjoyed movies, music, and had a keen interest in history. He was known for his giving, funny, and outgoing personality, traits that endeared him to many.
In 1991, William married his beloved wife, Teresa. Together, they created a loving and supportive environment for their family. He was a proud father to two sons, Walker Frye and Connor Frye. Walker and his wife, Celia, along with Connor, brought immense joy and fulfillment to William's life. He was also devoted to his mother, Cheryl Purkat, and his stepfather, Brian Purkat. In addition, he shared a special bond with his sister, Lindsay Frye, along with several uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews who were important to him.
William will be remembered not just for his achievements but also for his vibrant personality. He was known for his humor and outgoing nature, which endeared him to many and cultivated lifelong friendships. His larger than life demeanor captured the attention of those around him, allowing him to leave a lasting impression.
The legacy of William Bret Frye is one of service, love, and laughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Frye, as well as his grandparents, Vernon Walker and Joan King, and his uncle, Johnny Walker. William's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
